The transformative power of a fractional CO2 laser treatment

Fractional CO2 laser treatment works by fractionating laser light into fine beams. This method preserves surrounding skin, promoting quicker healing and shorter recovery times. The laser creates microscopic channels in the skin, stimulating collagen production to tighten and thicken skin, improve texture, and reduce wrinkles and pigment spots. Enhanced blood circulation also gives your skin a healthy glow.

What is a CO2 laser treatment suitable for?

Treatment with the CO2 laser is particularly suitable for improving skin texture, reducing pores, removing pigmentation spots and wrinkles. It is also effective for treating (acne) scars, sun damage, benign skin conditions such as age spots and fibromas

How does the treatment proceed?

Before the treatment, a numbing cream is applied at our clinic, which needs to remain on the skin for one hour. Post-treatment, you may experience redness and swelling similar to a sunburn, which typically resolves within hours to a day. Over the following days, treated skin may peel as new, rejuvenated skin emerges. Recovery times vary by treated area and depth, averaging 5-10 days for the face and 7-10 days for the neck, décolleté, and hands. Collagen continues to regenerate over several months, with final results typically visible after about 3 months.

How many treatments are necessary?

Superficial wrinkles and lines often disappear after just 1 treatment. Depending on your skin’s condition, fractional CO2 laser treatment may need to be repeated. During the intake consultation, we can provide optimal advice on this. Because collagen regenerates slowly, the maximum effect is visible 3 months after treatment.

How long does the effect last?

The duration of results varies based on factors such as age, overall health, smoking, sun exposure habits, and skincare maintenance.

What are the possible side effects?

Possible side effects include temporary redness, swelling, and in rare cases, discoloration or pigment changes. Precautions are taken, especially for individuals with darker skin tones, to minimise these risks.
