Botulinum toxin, how does it work?

Other nerve functions, such as the skin’s sensation of touch, remain unaffected.
Application
Every time you smile, frown, concentrate, or squint, your facial muscles contract, causing wrinkles and lines to form in the overlying skin. As you age, your skin loses its elasticity and these grooves can become deeper and permanently etched into your face. Think, for example, of the frown lines between the eyebrows, which can become clearly visible, making you look angry and concerned even when you’re not. However, there is also something to be said for preventive treatment: if you continue to relax the facial muscles responsible for eventual wrinkles, no wrinkles will occur.
Natural end result
The initial effect of botox against wrinkles becomes visible within about 2 to 3 days. The effect of the injections is always temporary. The effect usually lasts 3-4 months and sometimes even longer after multiple treatments. When the next treatment takes place depends on the duration of the effect in the individual person, and of course on his or her desire for it.

After the treatment
The treatment causes hardly any discomfort. Often, a few red spots at the injection site are visible immediately after the injection of the substance. The treatment lasts only a few minutes at most, and you can quickly resume your normal activities afterwards.
