Polynucleotides: PhilArt – An innovative treatment for combating signs of skin aging
As a dermatologist, I am deeply intrigued by treatments that stimulate the skin, whether they be injectables like Profhilo and Sculptra (known as biostimulators) or devices like the Morpheus8. The interest in products that actually prompt the skin to take action is growing significantly. This is advantageous because it leads to a wealth of scientific research in this field and the regular introduction of new products or devices to the market.
PhilArt is the brand name of a relatively new group of biostimulators. It is based on polynucleotides, substances with special biochemical properties that enhance skin elasticity and effectively combat various signs of aging, such as wrinkles, loss of skin firmness, and deterioration of skin tone.
This injectable gel, based on polymerized polynucleotides (PDRN), has positive effects on the skin in various ways:
How does it work?
Depending on the desires and possibilities, a plan is devised. For “normal” skin, more focus will be on prevention, and typically, 3 treatments with approximately 3 weeks between each session will suffice. We use 2 ml per area, or 3 ml for the face including the forehead. However, mature skin often requires four treatments initially. Subsequent treatments can then be adjusted based on your preferences and clinical assessment, usually occurring every 3-4 months. Specific protocols exist for treating delicate areas like around the eyes or addressing scars and stretch marks; we’ll discuss these before beginning your treatment journey.
As with any injectable procedure, there might be minor swelling or bruising. However, you can usually resume your daily activities immediately as camouflage makeup can be applied the day after treatment.
